Cottages

We have 12 cottages in and around the central courtyard with its protected pond and attractive flower beds, pots and hanging baskets. There are two larger cottages with private gardens above the courtyard area and the last three larger cottages are set slightly further apart with their own gardens.

We believe in creating a luxurious environment for your holiday in an understated way. All the furnishings, textiles, decoration and finishes have been chosen to reflect this vision, combined with our ethos of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Wherever possible, we have used local suppliers and work to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. Each cottage displays a wide variety of artwork by local and national artists which helps create its own individual personality.

All the beds have a choice of hypo allergenic or feather bedding and Ecover cleaning products are supplied in each cottage. Recycling and compost bins are provided in all the cottages and our guests are encouraged to make use of these as part of Greenwood Grange’s environmental ethos. We have recycling facilities on site and are running a three-yearly composting cycle.

Native planting and an edible permaculture programme are part of our “ecosystem vision”. Children (and adults!) are invited to explore the growing areas, try out the nature trails we are creating, pick herbs, vegetables, fruit and tomatoes from our home grown planters and growing space and enjoy the wildlife in this beautiful Dorset landscape. In each property you will find a comprehensive welcome folder giving you information about the site itself, along with ideas and recommendations of places to visit, good local pubs and restaurants and great days out. Local interest magazines are also provided. All the staff on site are able to offer ‘insider’ knowledge of the best local attractions, beaches and shopping facilities. Housekeeping staff are on site each day and we have live-in staff to cover those out-of-hour emergencies that can happen. Each cottage has comprehensive health and safety information which we recommend reading upon arrival. We can even offer a babysitting service by prior arrangement if Mum and Dad fancy a night out!

Each property was fully refurbished during February 2008 and we can offer a fantastic array of accommodation for parties of every size for a weekend break or family holiday. Particular attention has been paid to offering plenty of storage space, a variety of lighting and lamps, flexible seating and beautiful interiors. We have added contemporary fires into each sitting room, offering a warm and cosy atmosphere. All properties are no smoking and outdoor ashtrays are provided around the site. Dogs are welcome to stay in some of our cottages and an enclosed dog exercise area is provided with composting dog waste bins.

Beds are made up on arrival with 100 per cent cotton sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases. One bath and hand towel per person is provided, as are bath mats, so you will just need to pack towels for the beach or swimming pool. For chilly nights, extra blankets are available in each cottage. We have a central laundry room fully equipped with washers, dryers, irons, ironing boards and airers and all laundry detergents are provided. There is even a communal freezer for your ice creams!

Every cottage has excellent storage space for all those items you need on holiday, up-to-date kitchen equipment and decent quantities of crockery, cutlery, quality ovenware and glasses. Oven gloves and dish cloths are also provided. We have child seats and changing mats available. Bowls, cups, etc. are also supplied for babies and young children. You will find a good selection of books and games in your cottage to while away those heavenly holiday hours. We can arrange the delivery of champagne, chocolates, flowers, wine, etc, for those special occasions and there will be a complimentary cake or cookie awaiting you upon arrival.

On sunny days, the spacious grounds have a wide variety of contemporary furniture from loungers, picnic benches with parasols, kids’ seats, locally designed and carved benches – in fact, something to suit visitors of all ages! We have croquet, boules, badminton, giant hopscotch and draughts. The fantastic tennis courts are available for all guests to use at any time and all equipment is provided. Our beautiful, heated indoor pool is open to all our guests and is ideal for all the family with its easy access steps and changing rooms. The stunning mosaic décor will make you feel like you are relaxing in a Roman baths! The games room, with table tennis, pool table, bar billiards and table football, is always a great hit and also includes an inside play area for younger children and widescreen TVs. Our selection of over 300 DVDs offers something for everyone and is kept in the laundry room. There is Wi-Fi available in each cottage via Club Wi fi.
