About Us Greenwood Grange’s vision for the future
The owners of Greenwood Grange plan to improve and develop the complex in phases. The aim is to make the whole site an eco development, offering holiday cottages that have been sustainably refurbished and are managed to limit any excessive waste of resources and energy. Natural fabrics and fibres are being used throughout in line with our sustainable ethos.
The older buildings will benefit from improved insulation, energy efficient equipment, natural materials and the installation of roof panels to provide solar water heating and photovoltaic energy. We are also considering the use of either air sourced heat pumps or ground source heat pumps to provide heating. We are converting the current heating system from oil to electricity and are completing a full feasibility study to decide the best way forward.
A planning application for new buildings has been submitted which are highly specified to offer zero carbon rating where possible. The proposed eco units carry a very light footprint on the ground and will have low impact energy technology to provide heating, hot water and rainwater recycling. The units will have green roofs to minimise their visual impact and large-scale native landscaping will blend new and old together.
Leisure facilities will be upgraded or replaced if necessary to offer a more relaxing and healthy alternative. The present swimming pool will be replaced with a natural swimming pool and a new children’s outdoor play area will be created. Extensive landscaping and native planting will create an improved habitat for wildlife and help minimise any impact on the surrounding area.
The orientation and access to the site will be changed in order to improve accessability and safety. Disabled facilities will also be greatly improved with the provision of ramps, wheelchair friendly thresholds and bathing facilities in the new accommodation.
