Responsible visitor charter

Please help us to help save the planet and keep Dorset beautiful how can you make a difference?

Conserve energy

Reduce energy by switching off lights when you don\'t need them.  If the heating is on, close the windows and why not use the electric fire in your cottage rather than switching up the thermostat.

Give the car a rest - Leave the car behind if only for a day.

Walk into Dorchester following the local footpaths, the map in the laundry can show you which way to go.

Cycle hire is available from Cycloan Tel 01305 251521 Adult bikes start at £9.00 for a half day and child bikes start at £5.00

You can catch the bus from Kingston Maurward college into Dorchester.  The scheme is run by Nordcat and you must register your journey with them by calling 0845 6024547 quoting Greenwood Grange.  They will be able to give you details of the latest schedules.

Shop local

Why not try the local produce from Dorset and Somerset Local delicacies such as Dorset blue vinney cheese, local meats and fish are all available for delivery by Bowdens local or from stores in Dorchester town.  Look out for local farmers markets.

Reduce, Reuse, Re-cycle

Try to reduce packaging, take bags to the supermarket with you.

Please use the re-cycle facilities available on site for glass and cardboard.  Additional facilities are available at Tesco.

We can compost all raw vegetable peelings, tea bags, egg shells, coffee grounds and filters and paper towels.  Please don\'t add meat, dairy or cooked food to the compost.   The green bin should be emptied into the collection container in the car park please.

Be water wise

Please use water wisely.  Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and washing up.

If you don\'t use the towels provided please leave them in the wardrobe, this will reduce the amount of laundry that takes place.

Respect nature

Help us to look after the local landscape and wildlife by not littering, guarding against fire, and using footpaths and cycle-ways responsibly.
