What are your arrival and departure times?

Your cottage will be ready for you to check in from 3pm.
Our departure time is 10am to allow us to thoroughly clean the cottage ready for the next guest.

There will usually be a member of our team available to greet you and show you to your cottage. Don’t worry if you arrive at a later hour, or if our team are busy as we will leave the keys in the cottage door for you. We’ll pop by when we can to make sure you are happy with everything in your cottage.

How close are you to a town?

Greenwood Grange is truly in Dorset’s Best Location.

It feels oh-so-rural and tucked away next to Puddletown Forest, yet we are only 5 minutes drive from Dorchester. Close enough to get a Deliveroo delivered to your cottage!

Dorchester is a historic market town. Unlike most high streets across the UK, Dorchester is thriving with lots of local shops and fantastic eateries. There are artisan markets several times a week and a fantastic play area and childrens fountain set within a beautiful Victorian park.

In the last 20 years Dorchester has seen multi-million pound investment in the Brewery Square area, which now boats a multitude of fantastic restaurants, activities and shops. There’s a Pizza Express, Cote Brasserie, Wagamamas and Nandos to name a few. There’s also boutique shops, Microbreweries and children’s soft play cafe’s located there. In the warmer months the large outdoor fountains in the square make the perfect place to people watch, or for children to play and cool off.

Dorchester also has 2 train stations, with one being on the Main Line to London. It is about £10 to take a taxi to Greenwood Grange from Dorchester South Station.

Is there WiFi?

Yes, free superfast WiFi is available throughout the Estate. Mobile phone signal can vary depending on your provider.

How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?

We require a 15% deposit at the time of booking, with the balance payment due 4 weeks before your arrival date.

If the booking is made within 4 weeks of the arrival date we require full payment.

Is there a minimum stay?

Most of the year we operate on 2 nights minimum stay. We often offer 3 nights for the price of 2, so make sure you check the price of stating an extra night as it might be free!

During the peak seasons there can be a longer minimum stay requirement.

Can we bring our dog(s)?

Yes! We love dogs here at Greenwood Grange. Please make sure you book a pet-friendly cottage though, as we keep some cottages pet-free for those with allergies.

There is a £25 charge per pet, per stay. We kindly ask that pets be kept off the furniture please and are on a short lead around the Estate. We have a brilliant enclosed dog walk area that you are welcome to let them loose in for some off-lead fun.

We are situated a stone’s throw from Thorncombe Woods and Puddletown Forest and have many miles of beautiful walking trails to access from your front door.

Our cottages can comfortably fit up to 2 labrador sized dogs. Please get in touch if you would like to bring more or have any questions. Our Woofer House Rules can be found here.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unexpected emergencies may happen so we do try to be flexible wherever possible for genuine reasons for cancelling.

We are happy to transfer deposits to a future booking if cancellation is more than 4 weeks before the arrival date (subject to T&Cs).

We recommend you take ot Holiday Cancellation Insurance to provide cover in the event you may need to cancel your booking.

Do you have Hot Tubs?

Yes! We have 6 hots tubs around the Estate.

All cottages have access to the two hot tubs on the Shared Lawn.

Cottages with private hot tubs include:

- Henchard (XL Hot Tub)
- D'Urberville
- Coomb Barton
- D'Urberville

We aim to heat our hot tubs to 37.5C as per Health & Safety guidelines. We always change the water between each new arrival so the hot tub may not be fully up to temperature by the time you arrive. We have a new portable gas heater for the hot tubs though, so in the vast majority of cases your hot tub should be up to temperature by the time you arrive.

Please bring your own towels if you wish to use the hot tubs. Our white fluffy towels need to stay in the cottage please.

Is there a minimum age for the Hot Tubs?

In line with Health & Safety England guidance we do not allow anyone under the age of 4 in our hot tubs. This is because it is very dangerous for young children due to their little bodies being unable to cope with the increase in their core temperature in a hot tub. It can make them dangerously ill very quickly and they may not show any warning signs.

We also ask that children are accompanied at all times in and around the hot tubs.

Please let us know if you would like a copy of our hot tub information if you would like to find out more.

Do you provide travel cots?

Yes, we have travel cots available for you to use, as well as a host of other baby and child equipment.

In line with the Lullaby Trust Guidelines, please bring your own bedsheets and sleeping bag/duvet for baby as we don’t supply linen for travel cots.

We have lots of equipment for your holiday including:

- Travel cots
- High chairs
- Bed guards
- Baby baths
- Toddler steps
- Black out blinds (Tommee Tippee)
- Night lights
- Changing mats

Please note - we follow the Lullaby Trust Guidelines and the travel cots we provide come with just the base/mattress that the travel cot gets rolled up in. Please let us know if you need to know the dimensions of the travel cots.

Do you have BBQ facilities?

We sure do! We love a BBQ and our guests do as well. We have supply of BBQs in our BBQ Store (imaginative name!). Guests are welcome to take one out and use it. Or, just let us know and we will pop one in your garden for you.

At the end of your stay, just leave it on your patio and we will collect it and clean it and put it back in the store.

Kingsbere and Anglebury guests are welcome to BBQ on the shared Lawn as these cottages don’t have their own private gardens.

Can I park next to my cottage?

Our larger cottages all have private parking areas, right next to the cottage. These include Henchard, D’Urberville, Coomb Barton and Casterbridge.

The remainder of our cottages are in our converted barn courtyard and parking is opposite the entrance to the courtyard - only a very short walk.

You can see our map here.

Do you have Guest Laundry facilities?

Absolutely! We have a recently renovated Guest Laundry Room for all your laundry needs. We have washing machines, tumble driers and detergent in there. All free and ready to use. We also have a stock of clothes airers if needed.

Most of our 2 bed and larger cottages also have washing machines in the kitchens.

What’s provided in each cottage?

Prior to your arrival all the beds will be made up with our premium Egyptian Cotton bedding. We supply one large bath sheet towel and one hand towel per guest. These are also premium Egyptian Cotton.

You’ll find our kitchens are fully equipped for cooking food and hosting dinner parties. If there is any cooking item or utensil that you can’t find or need more of, just get in touch as we have a large supply of extras and spares.

In the kitchen we supply washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, bin bags, food bin bags, tea towels, cleaning cloths and oven gloves. We also keep some cleaning supplies for Guests in the Guest Laundry. You’ll also find a pint of milk in your fridge (2 pints for larger cottages), Dorset Tea bags and Little Coffee Bag Co. coffee.

Can we get a food shop delivered?

Yes, that's no problem at all. All of the local supermarkets will deliver to Greenwood Grange. Waitrose and Tesco are local to us in Dorchester, but there’s also Sainsburys, Morrisons and Asda slightly further afield.

We kindly ask that you please book a delivery slot for after your arrival time please.

When booking your food shop please make sure to include your name as well as the cottage you are staying in - let us know if you need to know which cottage you have booked.
