There’s every reason to visit Greenwood with a baby and or pre-schooler! If you are not tied to school-holidays, generally out of season stays will be quieter and all the family can benefit from lots of space and time in the play areas and the indoor pool** – many families use it daily and this has shown huge improvements with water confidence and ability. The games room and play yurt are also well equipped for younger children and a welcome option on rainy days. We can provide cots, stair-gates and bed guards as well as high-chairs and plastic cutlery and crockery so there’s no need to worry about the china or packing everything, as we appreciate travelling with a young family is by no means light!
Recently some of our own team’s family stayed with Grandparents and they enjoyed the open plan living space that the larger properties have to offer, being able to keep an eye on the grandchildren while cooking up dinner. The other perk was not feeling like they had to go in the car anywhere, with the facilities on site it means outings are not a necessity, just a gentle walk down to the play area or a splash in the pool with Grandma really was enough.
Many of the neighbouring walks around Thorncombe wood and Thomas Hardy’s birthplace are ok for able walking toddlers – suited and booted of course! Using a decent buggy and sticking to the main paths are about manageable, but it would be no bad thing, if you have one, to use a carrier or sling for babies.
Nearby Farmer Palmers is ideal for younger children, with lots of farm themed indoor and outdoor activities spanning all age ranges. There is a soft-play area with an area especially for little ones, the cafe is reasonably priced and serves home-cooked food, lots of play areas and ride on tractors for different ages and animals to visit. During your stay at Greenwood if you take a photo of the poster in the laundry room and show it on arrival you will receive 10% off your ticket price.
