We don’t serve food at Greenwood, but we do have a handy list of award winning local venues that serve up amazing food! Alternatively, if you’re looking to enjoy lunch inside your accommodation, we’ve got a list of local places you can stock up on gorgeous organic produce, from chicken to spuds, and some caterers that deliver gorgeous local pre-prepared food to cottages for your arrival!

Yalbury Cottage – Lower Bockhampton

Treat yourselves to a very special evening or lunch. Situated just one mile from Greewnwood Grange and set in the hamlet of Lower Bockhampton, the lounge and restaurant are full of character with oak-beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplaces and exposed stone walls. This award winning restaurant offers the finest of locally sourced produce from the surrounding area in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Yalbury Cottage also features a superb cellar of wines, which will please even the most discerning of wine connoisseurs. The Lounge is the perfect spot in which to enjoy a glass of champagne with canapés while perusing the menu or unwinding after dinner in front of the fire.

They also offer a Farmers Market Sunday Lunch which is a must try if you are in the area!

The Wise Man

Traditional village pub meets rustic gastro cuisine, The Wise Man is situated in the heart of the pretty village of West Stafford, only two miles from Dorchester, Philip and the team ensure a friendly welcome to all and will endeavour to make your visit a memorable one.  Their head chef Leigh leads a passionate team who endeavour to create great flavours and experiences. All of their dishes are made in house using the freshest ingredients and where possible we always buy local and in season. To sum up our menu its a collision of world flavours with rural Dorset and Great British Classics.

The Sun Inn

Now a family owned Free House run by Shelley and staff, offering genuine hospitality with the emphasis on simple, but great food and drink. There is a new larger menu with an excellent selection, from sizzling Fajitas or Venison Sausages to Sirlion & Stilton Salad or chicken and avocado Ciabatta, an extensive vegetarian selection and lots more to run alongside the carvery and all 7 days a week. There are also the Chef’s daily blackboard specials and a fine selection of wines by the glass there is something for everyone.

The Poet Laureate

The food is home-cooked and, where possible, the ingredients are sourced locally from the family farm, friends or trusted specialist suppliers. The wines have been chosen to complement the menu, and there is always a range of excellent guest ales on tap. Since they returned to their home county of Dorset six years ago, Alex and Nicky have become even more passionate about producing the very best food at accessible prices, as well as extending a friendly welcome in a homely environment to locals and visitors alike.
