Greenwood Grange provides the perfect marriage of rustic charm and sophistication. The winner of South West Tourism Self-catering provider of the year, with its delightful stone-built cottages and manicured grounds, is a magical wedding celebration location. And you have a blank canvas to style your special day your way.

The rural setting suggests all manner of themes from lanterns and festoon lighting to chalkboards, blankets, hay bales and wild flowers… all set in your own private village. Above all you can make it your own.

Village notices

Use of the grounds for parties and or receptions requires you to book at least one property. Due to our change over days we are not always able to host wedding parties in peak holiday season when the minimum stay is 7 nights.  In the off peak season the minimum stay of 3 nights applies (4th night is free of charge).  Due to our rural location we cannot allow fireworks on site and we ask that all entertainment ends at midnight.

Whether for work or pleasure, Greenwood Grange is the perfect, private spot for a unique large group event. We have extensive grounds for activities, a property that can sit 30 guests for dinner and 30 delegates for a meeting, and a further 16 cottages for overnight accommodation. There’s also ample onsite free car parking.

A great place for…

  • a friends or family celebration. Who’s got a big birthday coming up? Or an important anniversary? A three-generation family holiday?
  • May be a school or university reunion
  • How about a club event – cycling, walking, bird watching, a book group (bearing in mind we’re in the heart of Hardy country!)
  • Team building, mini conferences, training days, residential courses


Why not organise an on site sports challenge with games of pool, table tennis, table football or an outdoor tennis tournament, badminton, boule or croquet?

The grounds can accommodate archery, an ‘It’s a Knockout’ event and plenty of other team-building type activities.

Right next door to us is the ancient Thorncombe Woods, perfect for a treasure hunt, bush craft skills, forest trails and orienteering. We’re also at the heart of some great walking and cycling routes.

Workshops and training

Henchard has a large kitchen and dining area ideal for a cookery demonstration, cake decorating, flower arranging – in fact many types of training demonstrations.

Outdoor structures

As well as a traditional marquee the grounds at Greenwood Grange (subject to size) can accommodate pagodas, giant tipis, stretch tents, Bedouin tents, geodesic domes… let your imagination run wild…

Village notices

Henchard, our largest property, is available to hire for small conferences, training days or meetings of up to 30 delegates.

Refreshments and catering options are available. AV equipment can be hired upon request. Overnight accommodation for delegates is available at an extra charge. Costs start at £25 per delegate per day including refreshments on arrival, mid morning coffee and mid afternoon tea (minimum of 15 delegates).
