Greenwood Grange - Dorset Holiday Cottages

Welcome to a unique concept in modern, environmentally friendly holiday accommodation for all ages and size of party. Greenwood Grange’s eco friendly holiday centre has been created within and around buildings built by Thomas Hardy’s father in the nineteenth century. The cottage where Hardy was born is only a few hundred yards away and beautiful Thorncombe Wood borders our idyllic, peaceful Dorset haven. We have transformed these ancient brick, stone and slate barns and outbuildings into luxury accommodation for your dream holiday in this outstanding area of England.

At Greenwood Grange, we currently have 16 cottages which sleep from two to 12 people. Each cottage has been individually decorated and equipped, using sustainable, natural fibres, fabrics and flooring, updated antique furniture and energy efficient equipment wherever possible. Here at Greenwood Grange, our ethos is based on combining luxury with environmental responsibility. We have created a fruit and vegetable garden, provide on-site recycling facilities, can deliver local produce to the door of your cottage and generally do whatever we can to ensure that our and your carbon footprint is kept to a minimum. We have been awarded a 4/5* rating by English Country Cottages and will be applying for a Green Tourism Business Scheme Award later in 2008.

Greenwood Grange has a huge range of facilities for everyone to enjoy, whatever age. We have tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, badminton, croquet, giant garden games, an indoor gym and a games room, which includes a children’s play area. There are many walks in the area, including the 66 acres of mixed woodland and heath in Thorncombe Wood, and Greenwood Grange nature trails are in the pipeline. The Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage site, is only a few miles away and there are gardens, houses, castles, beautiful villages and so much more to explore. Dogs are allowed in certain properties and we have animals of our own – hedgehogs, Tess the cat who keeps the mice away, deer, badgers and masses of birdlife. Free range chickens, a wormery composting system and bee hives will all be joining the menagerie in the near future.

Our new enthusiastic management team is on hand to help you enjoy your holiday to the full and can answer any questions you have about Hardy country and all that is on offer in the area. And if you can’t entirely escape the outside world, there is Wi-Fi available on site. Whether you are on honeymoon, holidaying with your young family, enjoying a break with friends or planning a get away with the grandparents, Greenwood Grange will offer you the very best in comfort, luxury and relaxation.
